Letters from Pastor and Mrs. Sawyer
Pastor Sawyer’s Letter
Greetings to the Mt Moriah P.B. Church Family,
I thank God for sending me this way, for His grace, and for other blessings as demonstrated by each of you during these past forty years. God has truly blessed me, my family, and hopefully you through the Holy Spirit and me.
Today marks forty years I have spent as your pastor here at My Moriah P.B. Church, and I have been spending a lot of time lately reflecting on the past forty years. I remember how welcoming everyone was the first Sunday my family and the Brooks came to town. Many families invited us to dinner or took us out to dinner.
I remember all of the baptismal, weddings, christenings, and funerals that I had the honor of serving, as well as all of the various functions that I was able to be a part of. Most of all I remember all of the heartfelt conversations that have happened in my office and at the front of the church. I remember baptizing quite a few of you, attending elementary, middle, high school, and college graduations whether they were in town or out of town. When you had a problem with the School Board or City Council Meetings, I tried to be there. I thought of all of the amusement parks, circuses, zoos, etc just to name a few. The Bible states that God will give you a pastor after His own heart and I believe he gave me to this church.
Today I am simply writing to say “thank you!” You are such an amazing congregation and it has been an honor to serve as your pastor. I am continually blown away by your compassion, generosity, and willingness to serve. I can only hope that I have inspired you as much as you have inspired me.
Many of you do not realize when we came forty years ago Deacon James Rowell was a deacon and his wife Sis Elaine was a deaconess. The deacons who are serving now were ordained under my leadership. To Dea and Sis Rowell thank you for your continued service of over forty years.
I pray for God’s richest blessings on each of you. It has been an honor being called to serve you. May God bless each of you and I pray the next forty years He will continue to bless Mt Moriah P.B. Church in the United States of America.
Your Pastor,
Elder Leroy Sawyer
First Lady Sawyer’s Letter
God works in mysterious ways!! He does the opposite of what we want. And yet as we yield to His way, He turns that situation around to help us to live up to His will. And we’ll eventually, be happy about it! This includes being the First Lady in Church—-the Pastor’s Wife. He truly “IS” a miracle worker! Being a pastor’s wife is one of those situations in which we can see Him work in miraculous ways. That is if we truly seek His will, His heart, and His plan for our lives. It may even be rocky at times, but if we follow God’s will, the journey can be amazing.
When I became a pastor’s wife, I did not know what to do. My husband, Elder Leroy Sawyer, told me to be myself and be led by the Holy Spirit. I thank God for each of you because you allowed me to be “Me.”
My focus as First Lady of Mt Moriah P.B. Church is to continue to seek God and to serve the saints in a positive and Christ-like manner. I am committed to the service and spiritual growth of each member while supporting our Shepherd as God leads him by the Holy Spirit and continue to take us to new levels in His word.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you Philippians 1:3.
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers
Ephesians 1: 16. As you can see my prayers are with each of you. I ask you to continue to pray for my husband, our family, this ministry, and me. What a blessing all of you have been to us and we praise God for you.
A thankful First Lady,
J.Sawyer
